Day Dripper

There's something about an independant coffee shop that makes the start of a hectic day seem a little sasier, especially when that place is as stylish as the new Drip Coffee Lounge.

Design aficionado Vine Saccento has created one of the coolest spaces in Phoenix, with concrete floors, a walnut-backed bar, and homemade metal tables paired with iconic mid-century chairs by Charles and Ray Eames. It's common to see conversations develop between people sitting at the six two-top tables, four-seat bar, and center sofa. As Saccento's partner, Gina Bell Madrid, prepares organic coffee drinks, her infectious laugh makes customers look up from their laptops as they enjoy the free WiFi connection. Madrid and her staff take your breakfast or lunch order from a menu encased in a DVD holder.

Breakfast classics are served before noon for $5.50, and $6 sandwiches (complete with fat Brooklyn pickle) are served the rest of the day. Step back in time and order the Egg in a Hole: one egg cracked into a holed-out piece of toast with two slices of bacon and asparagus. All of the produce is organic, and the bread comes from a local bakery. Drip also welcomes dogs, as evidenced by the water bowls below the tables outside the front window.

Drip Coffee Lounge is located on N. 7th Street (near Sheridan Street) in Phoenix. For more information and hours, call 602.363.2900.
