Gina Bell Madrid lives in Phoenix, and Phoenix lives in her. Born on an American Air Force Base in Guam in 1973, Gina has lived in California, Michigan and Germany, and has spent time in Thailand, China, Japan, Philippines, Macau, Hong Kong, Nepal, Canada, Israel, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Panama and Austria, but has always called Phoenix home. After graduating from Tolleson High School, she studied photography and communications at Phoenix College, then earned a Bachelor's degree in Business and Communications at Arizona State University. She worked as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, a barista and a global event manager for a San Francisco-based travel association before opening Drip Coffee Lounge with Vine Saccento in 2006. The quality of Drip's food and coffee ensured that it would thrive - and Gina's personality ensured that it would become a downtown Phoenix destination, a place where people gather to connect with kindred spirits and with the crackling energy of this city. When she's not bringing together friends and customers at Drip, Gina can be found rollerblading, practicing Zen meditation or yoga, training her dog Joey (or being trained by him), reading, baby-sitting, house-sitting, just sitting, and generally being a daughter, sister, aunt and great-aunt. She claims that she does sleep sometimes, but her friends and family are unconvinced. |
